Over 17M students have enrolled: DepEd

OVER 17 million students have enrolled for the coming school year, the Department of Education said yesterday.

Data from the DepEd Learner Information System showed that as of August 9, the number of enrollees has reached 17,900,833, divided into 1,186,082 for kindergarten, 8,235,937 in elementary, 5,789,747 for junior high school, and 2,689,137 for senior high school.

Calabarzon remained the region with the highest number of enrollees since list-up started last July 25 with 2,604,227 in all levels, followed by Central Luzon with 2,046,017 and the National Capital Region with 2,020,134.

Other regions with high turnout of enrollees are Bicol region with 1,192,239, Region VI (Western Visayas) with 1,423,883 and Region VII (Central Visayas) with 1,348,499.

Enrollment will continue until August 22, when classes start. In-person classes will start in November.
