Ospital ng Tondo reopens after 2-week closure

OPERATIONS of the Ospital ng Tondo resumed on Monday after it was temporarily closed for two weeks starting May 11 after several doctors and nurses got infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Manila Public Information Office said three of the 13 medical front liners who got sick have fully recovered while the 10 others are still on quarantine.

During the two-week closure, the hospital underwent disinfection, cleaning, and pest control and the facility for COVID-19-related operations were rearranged.

Last April 4, the Ospital ng Sampaloc was also temporarily closed to allow health workers who contracted the virus to recover. The hospital reopened last April 21.

As of May 23, the city of Manila has 827 active COVID cases, with 1,372 suspected cases, 1,178 probable cases and 252 recoveries.

Ninety-five patients succumbed to the virus.
