‘Onyok’ out today

“ONYOK” intensified into a typhoon on Sunday night as it continued to move out of the Philippine area of responsibility.

Onyok had been expected to be out by today.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, Onyok was 320 km north northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving northwest at 20 kph. It was packing sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It was forecast to be 805 km north of Batanes this afternoon and 1,295 km north of extreme northern Luzon tomorrow afternoon.

Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands remained under warning signal No. 1 yesterday.
