TO encourage more deactivated voters to reactivate their voter registration records in time for the May 2025 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is extending the deadline for the online filing of applications for reactivation.

Under Resolution No. 10963-A, the Comelec pushed back the September 7 deadline to September 25.

“We highly encourage all deactivated Filipino voters to take this opportunity and reactivate your voter registration record online until September 25, 2024,” the Comelec said in a statement.

The poll body said the extension is due to the significant number of deactivated Filipino voters who have yet to apply for reactivation.

Comelec data shows that there are 5,376,630 deactivated voters, while those who have applied for reactivation is only at 556,231.

“The Comelec en Banc resolved to extend it in order to allow more Filipinos to conveniently reactivate their voter registration record without the hassle of physically going to the local Comelec offices,” said the Comelec.

According to the poll body, eligible to file an Application for Reactivation online are deactivated voters who have complete biometrics in the local Comelec office where they are registered.

It can be done through the official email address of the Offices of Election Officer (OEOs) nationwide, which is listed in the official Comelec website (www.comelec.gov.ph).

The poll body said the types of application for reactivation available through online include applications for reactivation with transfer of registration within or with correction of entries; reactivation with transfer of registration within and with correction of entries; and reactivation with updating of records for senior citizens and persons with disability.
