Ogie thrilled to team up with Odette Quesada for Valentine show

Up until now, Ogie Alcasid, a multi-awarded singer-songwriter with more than thirty years in the business, still admits to being starstruck.

He said meeting the likes of Kuh Ledesma, Basil Valdez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Joey Albert, and Odette Quesada still makes him pause.

“Mga OG ‘yun. Nung time na estudyante ako, parang ang layo nila,” he said at his press con at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery on Mother Ignacia last Friday.

“I’m an OPM fan,” he added.

It is an immense honor for him to perform alongside these world-class Filipino talents any day. And recently, when he was offered the chance to partner with US-based singer-songwriter Odette Quesada for “Love, Q & A,” it was an instant yes.

“Love, Q & A” is a three-day Valentine show, beginning in Cebu at Nustar Resort and Casino on February 13 and on February 14 and 15 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT).

“She was part of my childhood,” said Ogie, recalling the time he had to sing “To Love Again” as his solo number for the Kundirana Choir when he was in La Salle. “So to have a show with her is super exciting for me. It’s a thrill for me,” he reiterated.

Aside from giving him the chance to work with someone he idolizes, “Love, Q & A” affords him the opportunity to be with a “kindred spirit,” as they are both known to write from the heart, with Ogie capturing Filipinos’ emotions with unforgettable hits like “Ikaw Sana,” “Kailangan Kita,” “Sa Piling Mo,” “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” and “Kung Mawawala Ka” and Odette taking us along the stories of love and heartbreak with such beautiful songs as “Till I Met You,” “A Friend of Mine,” “Farewell,” “A Long, Long Time Ago,” and “Don’t Know What To Do.”

Aside from singing their songs, Ogie and Odette will have some surprises up their sleeves, including a question and answer on love (of course!) and a performance of love songs from great Filipino composers who, incidentally, have last names that start with the letter “C” – Willy Cruz, Josefino Cenizal, George Canseco and National Artist Ryan Cayabyab.

“I also want it to experiment on writing a song with Odette for the show,” he excitedly shared.

Tickets to “Love, Q&A” are now available at all Ticket World and SM Tickets outlets. The show is presented by Newport World Resorts, FHTC Entertainment & Productions Inc. in cooperation with NY Entourage Productions.
