FROM the initial three, the number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) injured in the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Taiwan last week has risen to 15.

“All 15 OFWs have received initial medical treatment and have been discharged,” the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said in a statement.

“They are recuperating in their respective company dormitories and accommodations,” it added.

The department said its Migrant Workers Office in Taipei is regularly monitoring the condition of the OFWs in coordination with their respective companies and local medical authorities.

“Follow-up consultations and check-ups have been scheduled,” it said.

It added that all assistance needed by the injured OFWs have been provided to them, including financial assistance of P30,000 each, as well as psychosocial support, food packs, and other needed items.

The quake that hit Hualien County in central-eastern Taiwan killed 12 people and injured over 1,100.
