THE medical facility dedicated to all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents is being eyed to have a “soft opening” by October this year.
In an online press briefing, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Renato Ebarle said they are pushing for a soft launch of the OFW Hospital ahead of its full opening next year.
“We are working at having a soft opening by October 2021,” Ebarle said, adding this will come ahead of the projected full opening of the 100-bed capacity hospital by the first or second quarter of 2022.
“President Duterte wants all projects under his administration completed before he leaves office,” said Ebarle.
As of May 6, Ebarle said about 15.7 percent of the construction has been completed.
“Our contractor is working fast. We are ahead of the schedule by 2.41 percent,” he said.
The OFW Hospital is a DOLE initiative aimed at recognizing the valuable contribution of all OFWs in the growth of the economy.
The P550-million project is being built on a donated property by the provincial government of Pampanga, P400 million donated by Bloombery for the construction of the hospital building, and P150 million from PAGCOR for the procurement of hospital equipment.
