THE Filipina domestic helper whose sister was one of the protesters confronted by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. outside the gates of the Department of Foreign Affairs main office is now back in the country after being “extracted” by a team from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Dodo Dulay confirmed that the sister of Regina Garde arrived yesterday.

“She arrived in Manila yesterday morning and she’s now reunited with her family,” Dulay told Locsin on Twitter.

Dulay said Garde’s sister will also be “receiving financial assistance from our Assistance to Nationals fund and additional cash and livelihood assistance” from the government.

Dulay said Garde’s sister, working as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia, was extracted by a team from the embassy in Riyadh last January 11.

“The sister of Regina Garde was extracted by our Embassy team in Saudi Arabia. She is now in our shelter safe and sound. Her employer will issue her exit visa and pay her salaries due. We are now booking her flight home. Thank you Ambassador (to Saudi Arabia) Adnan Alonto,” Dulay said in a previous tweet.

He did not explain how the OFW was “extracted.”
