THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has suspended the deployment of Filipino workers to Haiti.
Records show there are over 100 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) based in Haiti.
In an advisory issued last week, the DMW said no Filipino worker can be deployed to Haiti while Crisis Alert Level 3 remains in effect.
The Department of Foreign Affairs placed Haiti under Crisis Alert Level 3 in March due to the unstable security situation in the country brought on by violent gang activities and the breakdown of law and order.
“The processing and deployment of both new hires and returning OFWs is temporarily suspended,” said the DMW.
For OFWs already in Haiti, the DMW advised them to “remain vigilant, avoid public places, and restrict non-essential movement.”
