WHILE it has been placed under Alert Level 1 and public mobility and business operations are almost back to normal, the National Capital Region (NCR) is almost at “very low risk” classification, the independent OCTA Research said yesterday.

In a social media post, OCTA fellow Guido David said Metro Manila’s “low risk” coronavirus disease (COVID-19) status continues to improve and is “very close to very low risk.”

Data shows that the NCR has a seven-day average of 163 cases for the period of March 14 to 20, compared to 170 cases for the period of March 7 to 13.

The one-week average daily attack rate (ADAR) also improved to 1.15 compared to 1.20 a week earlier.

OCTA also noted how the positivity rate improved to 2.5 percent from 2.8 percent the previous week.

On the other hand, the case growth rate in Metro Manila has dropped to negative 4 percent compared to negative 23 percent the past week.

Similarly, the NCR reproduction rate has increased to 0.38 from 0.26 the previous week.

Metro Manila, along with 47 other areas in the country, was placed under Alert Level 1 from March 1 until March 31 due to decreasing number of COVID-19 infections in the region.

Based on existing guidelines, Alert Level 1 allows full capacity in private establishments and government agencies, as well as 100 percent seating capacity in public transports, subject to minimum health protocols.
