OCCIDENTAL Mindoro Gov. Eduardo Gadiano survived an attempt on his life yesterday morning, dodging a knife hurled at him by a businessman inside his office in Mamburao town.
The knife-thrower, Adrian Bernardo Gatdula, 53, was arrested by Gadiano’s security personnel and is now under police custody, according to Provincial Police Director Col. Joseph Bayan.
“It’s the routine of the Governor to entertain visitors, whoever they are; he is open to helping, especially in this time of pandemic,” said Bayan.
While inside the governor’s office at the provincial capitol, Gatdula, according to Bayan, drew a knife and hurled it at the Governor at around 10 a.m. Bayan said Gadiano, 57, dodged the knife by bowing down.
Bayan said security personnel immediately rushed to contain Gadula, who yielded three more knives.
“We still have no background of him. We’re investigating what’s his motive. We’re also going to investigate if he is drunk or he’s on drugs,” he said.
Bayan said he will talk to Gadiano to remind him to be careful during such meetings. He added he will educate Gadiano’s security personnel to avoid similar incidents.
