NU belles, UST Tigers under microscope

NOT one but two UAAP teams will be under the microscope today when the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, through the Games and Amusements Board, Department of Health, and Philippine Sports Commission, holds a meeting via Zoom over alleged violations of health protocols.

The National University women’s volleyball squad is also in hot water after allegedly holding workouts, a clear breach of quarantine rules, since May.

“Kasama na sila (NU) sa pag-uusapan,” GAB chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra told Malaya-Business Insight.

The Growling Tigers are under fire after it was revealed they had a training bubble in the hometown of coach Aldin Ayo in Capuy, Sorsogon City where former UST skipper CJ Cansino was booted out of the squad due to “defiance of authority.”

The 6-foot-2 Cansino asked permission from Ayo to leave Sorsogon City, located 529 kilometers away from Manila, and return to his home in Valenzuela.

Ayo reportedly did not like the idea, causing a rift that led to the shocking exit of the do-it-all wingman. Cansino transferred to University of the Philippines last Friday.

The UAAP has decided to let UST probe the incident internally.
