MALACAÑANG announced yesterday the latest appointments in several government offices, including former interior and local government spokesman Jonathan Malaya as National Security Council (NSC) assistant director general and Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairwoman Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio who was reappointed to her post.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) also said the President appointed lawyers Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra and Juan Emmanuel Reyes as Department of Agriculture assistant secretary and Presidential Management Staff assistant secretary, respectively.
Malaya was a former undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and former spokesman of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
He previously served as executive director of the thinktank Local Development Institute and as a senior lecturer at the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance.
Sotto-Antoniowas a former councilor of Quezon City before she joined the MTRCB in July 2022.
Velicaria-Guevarra is a lawyer who previously served as director at the office of the deputy Executive Director for Operations of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) while Reyes served as a lawyer at the department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The President also appointed to the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) retired police chief supt. Jose Briones Jr. as deputy administrator and named Jose Carillo, Rodelio Jocson, and Danilo Macerin as OTS Directors IV; and Ma. Lorina Rigor as Director IV at the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
Also appointed were Maria Melba Wee and Celso Olido as directors III of the Department of Agriculture (DA); Cheryll Eusela as executive director III of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute; Maria Regina Angela Galias and Marlito Rodriguez as directors IV of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW);
Rene Soriano as acting member of the Employee’s Compensation Commission; Rene Cristobal, Arthur Juego, Jose Roland Moya, Ranulfo Payos, and Antonio Sayo and members of the board of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council; Carlos Catis, and Alice Dumadag as members of the National Wages and Productivity Commission; Arsenio Bartolome III, acting member of the Board of Directors of the National Development Company;
And Franz Josef George Alvarez, Edgar Benedict Cutiongco, Rafael Del Pilar, Arthur Saldivar-Sali, Romeo Solis Jr., and Adrian Ferdinand Sugay as members of the board of directors of the Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corporation.
