NPA couple killed in CamNorte

A FEMALE New People’s Army leader and her husband, who is also an NPA rebel, were killed in a firefight with policemen in Capalonga town in Camarines Norte on Sunday, it was reported yesterday.

Bicol Regional Police Director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo identified the slain NPA couple as Lourdes Marca and her husband, Noeme Marca, residents of Capalonga.

Estomo said Lourdes is the secretary of the NPA’s Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad while Noeme is a known recruiter of the underground movement.

Operatives of the Bicol regional police and other police units swooped down at the couple’s lair in Purok 2, Barangay San Antonio at around 2:30 a.m to serve search warrants issued by Camarines Norte Judge Arniel Dating for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

The couple and some of their NPA cohorts fought it out with the lawmen who fought back, in the process killing the Marcases.

Police said the companions of the NPA couple were able flee during the 15-minute firefight.

Policemen have been deployed to launch pursuit operations against the fleeing rebels.

Recovered at the scene were a cal. 45 pistol, a cal. 38 revolver, assorted ammunition, fired cartridges, two TNT explosives, five blasting caps, six sets of donating cords, and a timer.
