NO Filipino was hurt when a garage structure collapsed in New York City, the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo Jose de Vega said the incident took place last Tuesday in the city’s Lower Manhattan District.
De Vega said a report sent by the consulate showed no Filipino was hurt, adding he also talked to Consul General Senen Mangalile in the aftermath of the incident to check if any Filipino were involved.
Reports said one worker was killed while five others were injured when the four-storey parking garage collapsed.
The New York city police said they had no reason to believe the incident was anything other than a structural collapse.
