THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said there is no government-to-government program between the Philippines and South Korea for the hiring of Filipinos as domestic workers, contrary to social media posts.
“We are reminding the public that these viral posts regarding the hiring of domestic workers bound for South Korea, via a government-to-government hiring program, is a scam and is not true,” said the DMW.
“Let us be alert and vigilant so that we can avoid these unscrupulous individuals,” it added.
The social media posts said 100 Filipino domestic workers are being eyed for hiring in South Korea, with a monthly salary of as much as P84,000. The posts also claim the hiring program does not involve recruitment agencies.
The DMW asked the public to report illegal recruitment activities. — Gerard Naval
