No need for SK voters to register again

REGISTERED Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters who just turned 18 years old need not go out and visit their city or municipal Offices of Election Officer (OEOs) to register as regular voters in time for the May 2022 national and local polls.

“If they registered in the last SK elections, they don’t need to register this time because they are automatically in the list of voters for those 18 years old and above,” said Elections spokesman James Jimenez in his video blog.

“They don’t have to worry anymore about that because that (SK registration) is already good (as a regular voter),” he added.

And if they want to verify their registration as regular voters, the poll official advised them to just call their OEOs.

“If you really want to verify it, what you can do is to call the Comelec where they previously registered to validate (this information),” said Jimenez.

Earlier, the Comelec said it expects to enlist some four million newly-eligible youth voters, or those who have just turned 18 or will be turning 18 in time for the 2022 elections.

The Comelec resumed on September 1 its voter registration activities for the May 2022 national and local polls.

Applications for voter registration may be submitted from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 8 am to 3 pm, in OEOs in areas that are under general community quarantine, modified general community quarantine, or if quarantine is lifted entirely.
