THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) yesterday told overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families that the agency does not require fees for its services.
The statement was issued after the agency found a Facebook page using the name of Administrator Arnell Ignacio that has victimized an OFW of P5,000.
“OWWA is not asking for any amount to help our OFWs,” OWWA said in a social media post.
“Do not believe (social media) accounts that ask for money in exchange of providing assistance to you,” it added.
It asked the public to report unscrupulous activities online to OWWA, through email: legal@owwa.gov.ph; mobile No./Viber: +639175805720; or landline: +632 (8)551-6638. — Gerard Naval
