DUE to “national election-related activities,” there will be no classes in public schools on all levels on May 2 to 13, according to Department of Education.
But the DepEd said teachers are expected to report to their respective schools on days when there are no election-related activities.
“Ang mga guro ay inaasahan pa ring magreport sa kanilang paaralan sa mga araw na walang election-related duties or activities (Teachers are expected to report to their respective schools on days that they are not rendering election-related duties or activities),” the department said.
Teachers have been obligated by the DepEd to report to their respective schools under its mandatory on-site reporting policy.
Since the pandemic was declared two years ago, the DepEd has implemented the blended learning set-up using modules and online learning to enable students to continue their education.
With the continued decline in COVID-19 cases, the agency recently expanded limited face-to-face classes, with DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma earlier saying a total of 14, 396 public and private schools nationwide with 2.6 million learners have been nominated by DepEd regional officials to conduct limited in-person learning.
About 320, 000 teachers will do poll duties in the May 9 automated national and local elections.
In the 2019 mid-term polls, 36, 830 schools nationwide were utilized as polling places.
