TROPICAL depression “Nimfa” is expected to bring more rains in the north while a shallow low pressure in La Union and the southwest monsoon will bring rains to Central Luzon, Pangasinan, Palawan and Mindoro provinces, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
Nimfa is not likely to make landfall and is expected to be out of the country by Saturday, said weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz.
“As of now there is no signal warning raised because we are not expecting its diameter to hit any part of the land mass. But it is enhancing the southwest monsoon which is bringing rains to many parts of Luzon,” said Dela Cruz.
Nimfa intensified into tropical depression Tuesday night from low pressure area. As of 3 p.m. yesterday, it was some 745 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes. It was slowly moving northeast, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph with gustiness of up to 70 kph.
