FROM a low of 168 last Tuesday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases crept up to 288 yesterday while 65 more lost their battle against the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 2,837,903 while the death toll climbed to 50,981, sure to hit the 60K mark today, Friday, tomorrow.
The positivity rate in the country stood at 1.1 percent out of the 32,118 tests conducted last December 21.
Active cases rose slightly to 9,251 from 9,238 last Wednesday, with 3,393 moderate cases, 3,204 mild cases, 1,797 severe cases, 480 asymptomatic cases, and 377 critical cases.
Active cases account for 0.3 percent of COVID cases in the country.
The DOH also reported 270 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,777,671.
This means that 97.9 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
