FOR the third time in four days, new coronavirus disease cases hovered above 8,000 yesterday while 312 more lost their battle against the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total infections in the country climbed to 3,609,568, counting the 8,361 latest cases. There were 8,702 cases last Thursday and 8,564 last Friday, along with 7,689 last Saturday.
The death toll rose to 54,526 for a case fatality rate of 1.51 percent.
The current positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 21.5 percent among the 38,675 tested samples on February 4.
There were 126,227 active cases, with over 116,000 mild cases and more than 4,800 asymptomatic cases.
The DOH also reported 18,431 additional recoveries, bringing the total number of survivors to 3,428,815.
