FROM 3,651 last Wednesday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases climbed to 4,575 yesterday while 94 more lost their battle against the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total infections in the country climbed to 3,627,575 while the death toll rose to 54,783 for a case fatality rate of 1.51 percent.
The current positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 15.1 percent among the 36,407 tested samples on February 8.
Active cases dipped to 93,307 from 96,326 last Wednesday, with over 85,000 mild cases and more than 3,300 asymptomatic cases.
The health department also reported 7,504 additional recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 3,479,485. The DOH said the recovery rate stood at 95.9 percent.
