A DAY after 1,409 new cases were reported, the lowest in the country in nine months, new infections climbed to 2,646 yesterday while 99 more succumbed to the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 2,809,311 while the death toll climbed to 44,665 for case fatality rate of 1.59.

The DOH did not say if the latest new cases included the results from 14 laboratories that were not reflected in its report last Tuesday because the labs failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System last November 7.

The positivity rate in the country stood at 4.3 percent out of the 35,772 tests conducted last November 8.

Active cases dipped slightly to 29,138 from 30,544 last Tuesday, with 60.8 percent mild cases, 17.3 percent moderate cases, 10.4 percent severe cases, 7 percent asymptomatic cases, and 4.4 percent critical cases.

The DOH also reported 4,029 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to

2,735,508. This means that 97.4 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
