FROM 203 last Sunday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases jumped to 263 as reported by the Department of Health yesterday, a figure that did not include data from 17 laboratories.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said 13 laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on December 18 while four others were non-operational. The DOH said the 17 labs normally account for 7.8 percent of the samples tested and 4.1 percent of positive individuals.
Overall, the total number of infections in the country rose to 2,837,730 while 45 more succumbed to the deadly virus as the death toll climbed to 50,784 for a case fatality rate of 1.79.
The positivity rate in the country stood at 0.8 percent out of the 28,438 tests conducted last December 18.
Active cases dipped to 9,592 from 9,729 last Sunday, with 3,569 mild cases, 3,375 moderate cases, 1,797 severe cases, 473 asymptomatic cases, and 378 critical cases.
Active cases account for 0.3 percent of COVID cases in the country.
The DOH also reported 390 more survivors, raising the number of survivors to 2,777,354.
This means that 97.9 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
