FOR the first time in two weeks, less than 5,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) yesterday but this does not include figures from 10 laboratories that failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 6.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total infections in the country rose to 1,280,773, counting the 4,777 new cases, while the death toll surged past the 22K mark — 22,064 — after 95 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus.

Last May 25, the DOH tallied 3,972 new cases.

The DOH reported that 7,122 more recovered from the virus, raising the number of survivors to 1,202,257, meaning 93.9 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
