NEW coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases dipped to 4,479 yesterday from 5,604 last Monday but the decrease was due to the fact that 14 laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 27.
In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health said 101 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus, raising the death toll to 24,557 for case fatality rate of 1.74.
Total infections, meanwhile, rose to 1,408,058, fast nearing the 1.5 million mark.
Active cases went down to 50,037 from 52,029 last Monday, with 90.4 percent mild cases, 4.4 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.1 percent severe cases, 1.5 percent critical cases, and 1.5 percent moderate cases.
There were 6,471 more recoveries as the number of survivors rose to 1,333,464. The DOH said this means that 94.7 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
Twenty-one more overseas Filipinos have contracted the deadly virus while two more died, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The total number of confirmed COVID cases and fatalities among overseas Filipinos climbed to 20,773 and 1,229, respectively.
Majority of the cases and deaths occurred in the Middle East and African regions with 11,759 and 822, respectively.
There were 27 new recoveries, bringing the number of survivors to 12,261. — With Ashzel Hachero
