FROM 2,671 last Wednesday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country dipped to 2,196 yesterday but 107 more succumbed to the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total infections rose to 3,646,793 while the death toll climbed to 55,330 for a case fatality rate of 1.52 percent.
It was the fourth straight day that new cases stayed within the 2K range.
The current positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 9.7 percent among the 29,392 tested samples on February 15.
Active cases dipped to 66,588 from 68,829 last Wednesday, with over 60,000 mild cases and more than 2,900 moderate cases.
The DOH also reported 4,409 additional recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 3,524,875.
The San Juan government reported a sharp decline in COVID cases in the city — from thousands to just 22 yesterday.
Mayor Francis Zamora said the city will continue to aim for zero cases and reminded everyone to continue to follow minimum health protocols like wearing face mask and maintaining physical distancing. — With Christian Oineza
