NEW coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases further dipped to 1,427 yesterday from 1,712 last Sunday, but the deadly virus claimed 79 more lives, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 3,653,526 while the death toll climbed to 55,763 for a case fatality rate of 1.53 percent.
The current positivity rate in the country stood at 7.5 percent among the 25,000 tested samples on February 19.
Active cases also dipped to 58,657 from 60,532 last Sunday, with over 53,000 mild cases and more than 2,800 moderate cases.
The DOH also reported 3,269 additional recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 3,539,106 for a recovery rate of 96.9 percent.
