THE Department of Health (DOH) yesterday reported 21,261 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), along with 277 new deaths.
Two laboratories were unable to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System last September 14.
There are now a total of 2,304,192 cases reported nationwide, while the number of deaths due to COVID-19 climbed to 36,018.
The DOH said the case fatality rate stands at 1.56.
On the other hand, the DOH reported 13,644 patients who have newly recovered, bringing the number of total COVID-19 survivors to 2,090,228, or a 90.7 percent recovery rate.
There are 177,946 active COVID-19 cases in the country, or 7.7 percent of the total number of nationwide.
Of the active cases, 86.1 percent are mild cases, 9.2 percent are asymptomatic cases, 2.6 percent are moderate cases, 1.4 percent are severe cases, and 0.6 percent are critical cases.
In the PNP, two policemen died of COVID-19, bringing to 112 the number of police personnel who have succumbed to the disease.
One of the victims was assigned in Metro Manila. The 38-year-old corporal tested positive on August 29 and was brought to a hospital. He died on September 14. — With Victor Reyes
