New ambassador to Nigeria named

PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has appointed new officials in different government offices, led by the new ambassador to Nigeria, Mersole Mellejor.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) yesterday said Mellejor will also have concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, and the Republic of Cameroon.

He had previously served as Philippine consul to Prague, Milan, and Singapore.

Marcos also designated Raquel Solano as ad interim Chief of Mission, Class II, in the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). She previously served as Deputy Consul General to San Francisco.

He also named Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Senior Vice President for Conversion and Development Group Joshua Bingcang as acting president and chief executive officer and member of the Board of Directors of the BCDA.

Bingcan had previously served as head of the New Clark City Project Management Office and officer-in-charge of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC).

Also appointed was Gerard Seno as an acting member of the BCDA board of directors.

The President named Napoleon Juanillo Jr. as assistant secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST); Josef Angelo Martires and Ubaldo Sadiarin Jr. as assistant secretaries of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR); and Romeo Benitez as assistant secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Prior to joining DOST, Juanillo served as the executive director of the Center for Food and Agribusiness (CFA) while Benitez was the director of DILG’s Legal and Legislative Liaison Service.

Martires will serve as DAR assistant secretary for foreign-assisted and special projects and Ubaldo will serve as assistant secretary for support services.

The President also designated Analisa Puod as acting general manager and member, representing the Private Sector and Broadcast Industry, Board of Directors under PCO’s People’s Television Network, Inc., and Allan Vincent Lorenzo as assistant director-general (Director IV) of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA). Puod took her oath before PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil.
