THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday said 348,349 individuals have filed their applications to become registered voters in time for the May 2025 national and local elections in only the first week of the voter registration period.
It said Calabarzon has the highest number of applicants with 61,736, followed by the National Capital Region with 48,187.
On the other hand, Central Luzon has 38,114 applications, while Central Visayas has 29,201 applicants, and Davao Region with 23,291.
The Cordillera Administration Region (CAR) has the lowest number of applications with 3,927.
The Comelec said only 8,924 and 9,356 applied in Mimaropa and the Bangsamoro region, respectively.
The poll body also said 694 applicants filed their forms at the Comelec Main office in Intramuros, Manila, where a Register Anywhere Program (RAP) booth has been set-up.
The Comelec is projecting about three million will apply to become registered voters during the seven-month voter registration period.
The voter registration period for the 2025 polls resumed on February 12 and is set to run until September 30, 2024.
