“GORING” has re-intensified into a super typhoon as it was moving out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
It has so far affected about 200,000 individuals.
Meanwhile, the severe tropical storm with international name “Haikui” was projected to enter PAR Wednesday night and exit on Friday. It was not expected to make landfall.
PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression, outside PAR. It was some 3,1150 km east of Eastern Samar as of 3 p.m. yesterday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in a bulletin issued at 5 p.m. yesterday, said Goring was some 185 km west of Itbayat, Batanes as of 4 p.m. yesterday, moving west northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA said Goring was packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
Goring intensified anew into a super typhoon, from a typhoon, on Tuesday night. It first became a super typhoon last Sunday but weakened into a typhoon on Monday.
Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, the northern portion of Apayao, and the northwestern portion of Cagayan remained under wind Signal No. 1 yesterday afternoon.
PAGASA said Goring will generally track the west northwest direction in Luzon Strait until its exit on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. It said Goring may remain a super typhoon until Friday.
