WITH the new minimum wage rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) set to take effect on July 16, private establishments in Metro Manila have been given until September 13 to file their applications for exemption.

In a social media post, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-NCR said: “All qualified establishments may file their exemption until September 13, 2023.”

It noted that retail/service establishments employing not more than 10 workers are qualified to file exemptions.

Similarly, the NCR wage board said establishments adversely affected by natural calamities and/or human-induced disasters are also eligible to seek exemption.

Last month, the RTWPB-NCR granted a P40 increase to the daily minimum wage rate in Metro Manila.

This means the minimum wage rate in NCR will rise from P570 to P610 for the non-agriculture sector; from P533 to P573 for the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments employing 15 or fewer workers, and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.

Wage Order No. NCR-24 is set to take effect after 15 days from its publication, or on July 16.
