THERE’S a glimmer hope.
Although the 96th NCAA basketball and volleyball tournaments have been ruled out due to the lingering pandemic, the two centerpiece events are likely to return in the 97th season.
But that hinges largely on whether or not the players would be vaccinated, according to a highly-reliable source.
“Ganito naman, we are also planning nga na ituloy kasi most likely nabakunahan na ang mga Filipino (next year),” the source told Malaya-Business Insight.
“Ang question lang ilan ang magpapa-bakuna? What will happen to the players na ayaw magpabakuna? Iyon ang tinitignan namin.”
The source said they are now talking about the 97th season because holding the 96th season is now out of the question.
“Wala na ang 96th season, masyadong suntok sa buwan,” the source said. “Ang dini-discuss namin ngayon sa meetings namin is paano ia-apply sa situation iyong mga hindi magpapa-vaccine.”
The NCAA is plodding on with its new season but only with online and hybrid events such as online chess and online taekwondo due to the health risks and uncertainties brought about by an unseen but vicious enemy.
