President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the opening of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Competition on Monday, August 25, at the Marriot Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 – its second time hosted by the Philippines since 1996 – showcases top youth talent and technical skills across Southeast Asia.

Nearly 1000 delegates, including 300 youth competitors from nine ASEAN countries and observer Timor Leste, will compete in 32 skill areas across six sectors. Vietnam withdrew due to funding and institutional changes.

Joined by TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez and DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, President Marcos Jr. officially launched the event. TESDA’s participation highlights the country’s push to align technical-vocational training with global standards and build a skilled, competitive Filipino workforce.

The main competition runs from August 26-28 at the World Trace Center and Philippine Trade Training Center. The closing ceremony will be on August 30 at the SMX Convention Center.

WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 is a vital platform for developing young professionals set to drive Southeast Asian’s growth through skill excellence and innovation.
