AFTER the proclamation of the 12 new senators-elect last Saturday, the Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), is set to name today the winning party-list organizations in the May 12 polls.
The proclamation will be held at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel.
Elections chairman George Garcia said the proclamation is expected to include all winning party-list organizations out of the 155 groups that ran in the last elections.
“We will have full proclamation of (winning) party-list groups. There will be no partial proclamation,” Garcia said in a press briefing.
Garcia said the NBOC is still finalizing the identities of winning party-list groups and the number of allocated seats for each of them.
“That would be contained in a resolution that would be read on Monday,” he said.
Based on the National Certificate of Canvass (NCOC) released by the NBOC, the top party-list groups are Akbayan (2,779,621); Duterte Youth (2,338,564); Tingog (1,822,708); 4Ps (1,469,571); ACT-CIS (1,239,930); Ako Bicol (1,073,119); Uswag Ilonggo (777,754); Solid North (765,322); Trabaho (709,283); and Cibac (593,911).
Also getting high number of votes are Malasakit@Bayanihan (580,100); Senior Citizen (577,753); PPP (575,762); ML (547,949); FPJ Panday Bayanihan (538,003); United Senior Citizens (533,913); 4K (521,592); LPGMA (517,833); COOP-NATCCO (509,913); and Ako Bisaya (477,796).
A total of 63 seats for party-list representatives are set to be filled up after the May 12 polls.
Party-list seat allocation will be determined using the formula provided by the Supreme Court (SC) in its 2009 ruling on the Banat versus Comelec case.
Last Saturday, the NBOC proclaimed the 12 new senators-elect of the Philippines, namely Cristopher “Bong” Go (27,121,073); Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino (20,971,899); Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa (20,773,946); Erwin Tulfo (17,118,881); Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan (15,343,229); Rodante Marcoleta (15,250,723); Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (15,106,111); Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (14,832,996); Pia Cayetano (14,573,430); Camille Villar (13,651,274); Lito Lapid (13,394,102); and Imee Marcos (13,339,227).
