ABOUT 193,032 minimum wage earners and 160,795 domestic workers in Western Visayas are set to receive pay adjustments beginning November 17.

This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) – VI (Western Visayas) issued twin wage orders for private sector and domestic workers.

According to Wage Order No. RBVI-28, the RTWPB-VI granted a P33-P40 daily wage increase for private sector workers in Western Visayas.

“This brings the daily minimum wage rates in the region to a range of P485 – P513 in the non-agriculture sector, and P480 in the agriculture sector,” said the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The wage order is expected to directly benefit 193,032 minimum wage earners in the private sector of Region VI.

Similarly, the Western Visayas wage board issued Wage Order No. RBVI-DW-05 that approved a P1,000 monthly increase for kasambahays in the region.

“(This) brings the monthly minimum wage of domestic workers in Region VI to P6,000,” said DOLE.

The wage increase for kasambahays is expected to benefit a total of 160,795 domestic workers in Western Visayas.

The DOLE said the two wage orders will be published on November 01, 2024 and shall take effect on November 17, 2024.

The last wage orders for workers in private establishments and domestic workers in the Western Visayas became effective back in November 2023.
