PRIVATE sector and domestic workers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Mimaropa are set to receive wage increases right before Christmas Day.
This after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) of CAR and Region IV-B issued their respective wage orders for both private sector and domestic workers.
Based on Wage Order No. CAR-23, the CAR wage board granted a P40 daily minimum wage increase across all provinces in the region, bringing the daily minimum wage rate from P430 to P470.
RTWPB CAR also issued Wage Order No. CAR-DW-06, which grants a P1,100 monthly increase for “kasambahays,” or house helps, in the region.
The hike will bring the sector’s monthly minimum wage from P4,900 to P6,000.
“Wage Order Nos. CAR-23 and CAR-DW-06 will take effect after 15 days from publication, or on 24 December 2024,” said the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
Meanwhile, the Mimaropa wage board issued Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-12, which increases the daily minimum wage for private sector workers in the region by P35.
This means that the minimum wage rate of workers in establishments with 10 workers and above will increase from P395 to P430, while those in establishments with less than 10 workers will increase from P369 to P404.
Via Wage Order RB-MIMAROPA-DW-05, the RTWPB-IVB also approved a P1,000 monthly increase for domestic workers in the region, to bring the sector’s monthly minimum wage to P6,500 from P5,500.
“Wage Order Nos. RB-MIMAROPA-12 and RB-MIMAROPA-DW-05 will take effect after 15 days from publication, or on 22 December 2024,” said the NWPC.
It said the wage orders are expected to directly benefit 74,961 minimum wage earners in CAR and Mimaropa, and 40,116 domestic workers in the two regions.
The NWPC said registered Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) are not covered by the minimum wage law.
