BROTHERS Erwin and Ben Tulfo would have topped the midterm senatorial elections if the polls were held today, followed by five incumbent senators, three former senators, a former Cabinet secretary, and a television personality, the January 25 to 31 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey of Octa Research showed.
The survey, which involved 1,200 adult respondents with a margin of error of ±3 percent, showed Act-CIS Partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo as the first choice of the public for senator with a 70 percent voter preference, followed by his brother, businessman-broadcast personality Ben Tulfo with a 60 percent voter choice.
Behind them are re-electionist Sen. Senator Christopher “Bong” Go (58 percent), former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (52 percent), Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla (49 percent), former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Willie “Wil” Revillame (48 percent each).
Also in the potential top 12 are Sen. Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano (46 percent), former Sen. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao (45 percent), Senators Imelda “Imee” Marcos (44 percent) and Lito Lapid (43 percent), and former Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. (39 percent).
Trailing closely behind them are re-electionist Sen. Francis “Tol” Tolentino (38 percent), Makati Mayor Abby Binay (37 percent), Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar (36 percent) and Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa (36 percent each).
Rep. Tulfo, Sotto, Revilla, Lacson, Cayetano, Pacquiao, Lapid and Abalos are part of the administration’s Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate endorsed by President Marcos Jr. while Go is from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) Party and endorsed by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
