FORMER congressman Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. will be arraigned today before a Manila court on murder charges in connection with the March 2023 attack that killed Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine others.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said Teves will be arraigned via videoconference which is set for 2 p.m. at the Manila RTC Branch 51.
Last week, Teves was arraigned before another Manila court on charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Teves is accused of violating the law on possession of illegal explosives and firearms that authorities said they seized and confiscated from his house in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental in the aftermath of the attack that killed Degamo.
Another murder case is also lodged against the former lawmaker before the Manila RTC Branch 15 and Branch 63 of the Bayawan City RTC.
Charges for violation of the Terrorist Financing, Prevention, and Suppression Act have also been filed before the Quezon City RTC Branch 77.
Teves has denied all accusations and called for a fast-tracking of trial of all his cases.
He is currently detained at a facility operated by the National Bureau of Investigation inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
