THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has ordered licensed recruitment and man-ning agencies in the country to register their official social media accounts such as on Facebook, X, and Tiktok with the department.
The order was issued amid the proliferation of job offers being advertised by
unauthorized individuals and vloggers, purportedly on behalf of licensed recruitment and manning agencies.
“We have received reports of vloggers and other individuals promoting overseas job op-portunities, only to redirect the public to fake or unauthorized accounts posing as legiti-mate representatives of PRAs (private recruitment agencies) and LMAs (licensed man-ning agencies), it said in an advisory.
“This practice not only damages the reputation of legitimate agencies but also puts the public at risk of falling victim to illegal recruitment and other scams,” it added.
It asked the recruitment and manning agencies to have their social media accounts veri-fied or blue-checked by their respective social media platforms “to help job seekers dis-tinguish legitimate agencies from impostors.”
PRAs and LMAs may register with the DMW their social media accounts via email at esrd@dmw.gov.ph.
The DMW is mandated to regulate the operations of private recruitment and licensed manning agencies involved in the deployment of OFWs.
