TEN thousand jobs will be available as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) holds a two-day special job fair for workers displaced by the ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) starting today, Tuesday, at the SM-Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.

In a social media post, the DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) announced that 10,000 job vacancies will be offered by 55 participating employers in the job fair, which will run until Wednesday.

“There are now 10,000 job vacancies that will be offered by participating employers,” said DOLE-NCR.

Among them are the sectors of business process outsourcing, retail and sales, accommodation, food services, construction, transport, and logistics.

In a phone interview, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said they are hoping that POGO workers will take advantage of the opportunity to find new jobs.

“We warmly invite our POGO workers to join and participate in the job fair,” said Laguesma.

He also called on POGO executives to allow their workers to participate in the job fair.

“We appeal and encourage their respective companies to allow them the time off so that they can take advantage of the opportunity to find suitable jobs for a smooth and just transition,” said Laguesma.

DOLE-NCR said interested jobseekers are advised to pre-register by visiting the link: https://tinyurl.com/projectdapat.

Applicants should bring copies of their resumes and other required pre-employment documents.

The holding of the special job fair is under the directives of DOLE to find employment opportunities for Filipinos who stand to lose employment due to the ban on POGOs.

DOLE data showed that affected POGO workers at risk of becoming jobless stands at 79,735 Filipinos and foreigners.
