THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the PNP has filed criminal charges against the top aide of Aklan Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for alleged violation of RA 10168, or the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012, when he reportedly provided food and money to the New People’s Army (NPA).

The CIDG-Aklan Provincial Field Unit charged Benjie Tocol for violating Sections 4 and 8 (ii) of the law, along with Rosanna Inaudito alias Ka Dayan/Ann-ann, and Jose Edwn Guillen, who was identified as an officer of the NPA’s Coronacion Chiva “Waling-Waling” command in the Panay region.

The complaint stated that Brince Gegodas, a former NPA member, supposedly identified Tocol as the person who allegedly directed him to deliver grocery items and cash to Guillen at the Ceres Terminal in Kalibo, Aklan on April 2023.

Gegodas was arrested during the entrapment operation.

Police said they approached Tocol who was spotted in the vicinity at the time and he identified himself as Haresco’s staff and later asked permission to leave the area.

After a plea bargaining agreement, Gegodas showed to authorities the call logs of his conversation with Tocol and Guillen to back his claims.
