THE Armed Forces yesterday belied reports that the increase in the daily subsistence allowance of soldiers had been disapproved.

In a message posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday night, the AFP said the increase, which ranges from P150 to P350, is already funded under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The military issued the statement after social media posts reported that the military leadership allegedly disapproved the increase.

The posts said: “Current fiscal constraint and budget considerations do not allow for the immediate implementation of the proposed increase.”

It mentioned, though, that the military leadership is exploring ways to enhance financial support to military personnel “within the limits of available resources.”

In its Facebook post, the AFP said: “The Armed Forces of the Philippines refutes the false and baseless information being spread regarding the disapproval of the P350 daily subsistence allowance increase for our personnel.”

“Contrary to these misleading reports, the P350 daily subsistence allowance increase has been successfully incorporated into the approved 2025 General Appropriations Act,” it added.

The AFP said the fund allocation “demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare and support of our dedicated soldiers.”

“The AFP remains dedicated to the well-being of its soldiers and will continue to prioritize their needs. We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation in combating the spread of false information,” it also said.

Meanwhile, Communications Undersecretary and Presidential Press Officer Claire Castro, in a briefing in Malacañang, said the Palace will abide by whatever decision the Supreme Court metes out in connection with the petition questioning the zero subsidy for the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) this year.

“If the Supreme Court orders the reinstating of subsidy from the government, we will comply with whatever the Supreme Court says,” Castro said in Filipino.

Cardiologist Tony Leachon had filed a petition for certiorari and prohibition before the SC to stop the implementation of Republic Act No. 12116 or the General Appropriations Act of 2025 in connection with the non-allocation of subsidy to PhilHealth. – With Jocelyn Montemayor
