ACTRESS Sharon Cuneta urged Filipinos not to believe the spliced and edited videos aimed at spreading disinformation about her husband, former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, who is seeking a Senate comeback in the May 12 midterm elections.

Cuneta, during the couple’s campaign activity in General Santos City on Saturday, said Pangilinan’s opponents have resorted to black propaganda tactics to discredit him because they have nothing against him.

“Walang mapintas sa kanya. Hindi nila masabing nagnakaw, hindi nila masabing bobo…Pinipilit po nila ilayo siya sa inyo (They have nothing to say against him. They cannot accuse him of being a thief, they cannot accuse of him of being dumb…They are just trying to take him away from you). You are smart to know what is true and what is not,” she said, adding that the public can fact check his accomplishments during his previous terms in the Senate.

“Ito po ang paniwalaan ninyo. Believe sa mga resibo (Check his legislative accomplishments. He has proof of what he has done). You research. He has passed more than 200 laws,” Cuneta said.

“A vote for Kiko. That is a vote for your future,” she also said.

Pangilinan asked his supporters not only to vote for him on May 12, but to continue to campaign for him as Election Day nears.

“Tumatakbo ako para sa mga Pilipino na naniniwala na meron pang pag-asa ang Pilipinas. Ako po ay tumitindig para sa mga magsasaka, mga mangingisda, para sa murang pagkain, para wala nang gutom, para ang taumbayan makinabang ng husto. Tumatakboako para ipakita na maaaring manalo ang lumalaban ng patas at hindi magnanakaw (I am seeking a fresh term in the Senate for the Filipinos who believe that there is still hope for the Philippines. I stand for the farmers, the fishermen, for affordable food so we can eliminate hunger, so that Filipinos will benefit from them. I am running to show that we can win fairly),” he said.

On the other hand, former senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino held a motorcade in Metro Manila on Sunday to woo voters.

Among the places he visited were Barangay Tunasan in Muntinlupa City, CAA road in Las Piñas City, Barangay Santuico in Makati City, Barangay Tramo in Pasay City, Mandaluyong City, Quezon City, and Valenzuela City.

“Mga kasama, ilang araw na lang, kaunting pagod na lang, konting tulak na lang, ipapanalo po natin ito. Sama-sama tayo (To my fellow Filipinos, there are only a few days left, so I am asking for your tireless efforts to make us win in this elections),” he said.

Aquino was joined by a number of volunteers, including those from movie industry such as Iza Calzado, Bea Binene, Elijah Canlas, Kerwin King, Zion Aguirre, Nino San Jose, Andrea Guevarra, Dr. JM dela Cruz Dangane, and Gabe Pineda.

Members of the LPGMA party-list group and Team Batang Regasco also joined the motorcade.
