Senate President Vicent Sotto III has suspended work and cancelled hearings at the upper chamber for Monday due to expected heavy rainfall from super typhoon “Nando.”
In a memorandum issued Sunday night, Senate secretary Renato Bantug said the work suspension was in anticipation of the possible effects of super typhoon in Metro Manila.
“In view of Memorandum Circular No. 97 issued today (Sept. 21, 2025) by the Office of the President, which suspends work on government offices in Metro Manila, tomorrow (Sept. 22) on account of the forecast of heavy rainfall due to super typhoon ‘Nando’ and the southwest monsoon, Senate President Vicente Sotto III has ordered the suspension of work at the Senate on Monday, 22 September 2025,” the memorandum stated.
The work suspension prompted the cancellation of three scheduled committee hearings, and the briefing for the proposed 2026 budget of the Department of National Defense, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU).
No announcement has been made on whether work will resume on Tuesday.
