The Senate on Monday submitted for plenary deliberations the proposed P903 million budget of the Office of the Vice President for 2026 in less than an hour after only one senator asked questions from Vice President Sara Duterte.
Senate majority leader Juan Miguel Zubiri moved that the Finance Sub-Committee A approve the OVP budget as a “parliamentary courtesy.”
“We have parliamentary courtesy here…I’ve been to almost 23 budgets already. Pagbisita po ng Office of the Vice President and President we give them parliamentary courtesy…In this case , the budget of the Vice President is already lean and mean budget. Wala na pong dagdag (We have parliamentary courtesy here… I’ve been to almost 23 budgets already. When the Office of the Vice President and the President visit us, we give them parliamentary courtesy…In this case, the budget of the Vice President is already lean and mean budget. There will be no more additions),” Zubiri said.
The senators present who did not object to Zubiri’s motion were Erwin Tulfo, Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos, Ronald dela Rosa, Christopher Go, and Jinggoy Estrada.
