THE Supreme Court yesterday opened the applications for the 2025 Shari’ah special bar examinations.
In a Bar Bulletin, Associate Justice Antonio Kho Jr. said the application will run until February 28 this year.
Kho, who chairs this year’s Shari’ah Bar, said interested applicants must apply exclusively through the BARISTA platform via the Philippine Judiciary portal.
To qualify for the Shari’ah Bar, Kho said applicants must be Filipino citizens, at least 21 years old, with good moral character, and have no pending charges involving moral turpitude.
They must also meet specific training or academic requirements, including completion of the 2025 Shari’ah Training Seminar for Ulama and Asatidz or a degree in Islamic Studies and or Law.
Kho said applicants must also pay the application fee of P12,800.
He said the High Court has designated tentative testing centers in Davao City, Quezon City, Cagayan de Oro City and Zamboanga City.
The SC set the Shari’ah Bar examinations this year on May 25 and 28.
Last year, there were 906 applicants but only 852 complied with the requirements and were allowed to take the exams.
Among the subjects covered in the examinations are Persons, Family Relations and Property; and Jurisprudence, Customary Laws, Procedure in Shari’ah Courts; and Succession, Wills and Adjudication and Settlement of Estate.
