THE Supreme Court has issued a temporary protection order for relatives of an activist missing in Albay since August 2024.

The en banc order granted a protection order prohibiting the respondents from approaching petitioner Elna Corazon Jazmines and her immediate family.

Jazmines filed the petition for a writ of amparo and habeas data in November 2024 for her husband, James, who was allegedly abducted by “state security forces” in Tabaco City, Albay.

Jazmines is the youngest brother of National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) consultant Alan Jazmines.

The respondents are President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., former PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil, and PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, among others.

The en banc issued the writs returnable to the Court of Appeals, which it said “shall cause the immediate raffle of this case among its incumbent associate justices.”

The respondents are also directed to answer within “72 hours and five days” on the petition before the CA.

It also directed the CA to conduct a summary hearing on July 7, 2025 to decide on the merit of the case.
